Do you know if you are a teacher who uses filler words, constant compliments, passive voice, or disembodying language? Shining a light on these common teaching tendencies can help you become a more masterful instructor.

In this 2-hour masterclass on cueing (the language we use to help move people around their yoga mats) for teachers, we will work to refine our teaching language to offer clear and specific instructions to get students into and out of each pose, shape, or movement efficiently and effectively. It’s not uncommon for movement instructors to give vague instructions or for the instructions to be simply missing. What we say as teachers, and how we say it, matters. Teaching with clear and specific instructions in a class is a difficult task. After all, how much instruction can be given in just 15 to 30 seconds? As it turns out, more than one might think. In this masterclass, we will use concise language to efficiently convey information as teachers so that our students can get more out of the practice.

As a yoga instructor of almost 20 years, I have spent countless hours studying and refining my cueing. And I have intensively studied styles of yoga that specifically focused on clarity in cueing. I consider good cueing to be one of my greatest assets as a teacher and I look at this masterclass as an opportunity to pass along the most essential knowledge I have gained on this topic to you.
