Making Connections: Mind, Body and Breath

Friday, November 11th 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Theme: Reset to Renew
We all want to be able to move well, both on and off our mat. This workshop will explore the RESET, a foundational component of every LYT Yoga class, which helps us establish a neutral pelvis and activate our deep abdominals. Utilizing these skills will bring a fresh perspective to your practice and set you up for a lifetime of integrated movement.

Saturday, November 12th 9:00am - 11:00am

Theme: Sustainable Shoulders
Did you know that our shoulders are the most mobile joint in our body? Not merely a single ball and socket joint, but a complex system of joints and connective tissue allow us to have a full range of motion. The scapulae need to move well in addition to stabilize well on the back ribs when the upper body is weight-bearing. Get ready for creative moves and some sweaty energizing sequences to set the scapulae up for success and keep our shoulder movement sustainable.

Theme: Restructure Your Breath
"Take a big breath" is an overused phrase for when we need to calm down. There is truth in this remedy though, as our respiratory and nervous systems are so intimately connected that one does indeed affect the other. This masterclass will teach you about the anatomy of breath and how it interacts with the nervous system. Using soft tissue mobilizations, we can restructure the way we hold ourselves in space, create more freedom of movement in the body, and boost your breath. Feel more buoyant, clear and calm with each and every breath we take!

Sunday, November 13th 10:00am - 12:00pm

Theme: Ground Control
Ground reaction force is the force exerted by the group on a body in contact with it. It is one of the most useful biomechanics principles we can use when moving. In this class, we will ignite our glutes, work our core, mobilize our hips and shoulders, and find and dig into that grounded feeling. Let's use the ground reaction force that is always available to us, and learn how to harness it to work for us!
